PHOENIX, ARIZONA – NAID launched a new website for Shred School on June 3. The website, www.shredschool.com, outlines the newly designed curriculum, materials, schedules, and locations.

The first Shred School workshop will be in Chicago, Ill., July 17-18. NAID will use the Shred School program as a platform for training industry rank-and-file employees and professionals interested in entering the secure destruction industry. Each Shred School workshop is two days and each attendee will receive a workbook followed by a certificate of completion. During the two days, trainers will discuss RIM and secure destruction services, industry terminology, laws and regulations, sales, marketing, event planning, and NAID programs and tools.

“NAID members often can’t afford to send a lot of employees to the NAID annual conferences,” said Jamie Steimer, NAID’s Director of Programs and Events. “By pricing Shred School affordably and taking it on the road, we hope to provide industry training at level that was not available in the past.”

Currently, five Shred School workshops are scheduled across the country between July and October. The association is considering up to 10 additional workshops in 2014. The website will be updated as new locations and dates are added.

Shred School, along with other member services and related websites, is also featured on the recently redesigned landing page on www.naidonline.org. The former landing page has been replaced by a more attractive page containing links to the most commonly visited resources and most important association information. The new landing page is more eye-appealing, substantially increases the website’s search engine optimization results, encourages visitors to stay longer on the site, and makes navigating through chapters and other pages much easier.

“The featured links on the new landing page will be dynamic in that we intend to update them regularly with new information,” said Carlberg. “As certain pages become more popular, or as NAID changes its focus, those links will change too.”

PHOENIX, ARIZONA –The National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) acquired the rights to the trade name Shred School from Total Training Services, Inc.

“As far as we were concerned, it was a no-brainer,” said NAID President Scott Fasken. “Shred School was a strong brand with a good reputation and a mission that aligns perfectly with NAID’s mission.”

Regarding the transition, Total Training’s former President Ray Barry said, “It was very important to me that Shred School had a good home. The acquisition of the brand by NAID ensures it will. I can think of nothing better for it.”

NAID will use Shred School as a platform for providing advanced training for the association’s growing list of sales and marketing programs as well as traditional secure destruction sales techniques and regulatory issues.

The Shred School acquisition comes shortly after Barry accepted a position as Vice President of Sales, Eastern Region at Access Information Management.

“We’re in the process of retooling the Shred School list of services and events,” said NAID CEO Bob Johnson. “In 2013, we will reintroduce the program with a new website and a full explanation of new member benefits.”
